Early Intervention Clinic

BHA provides Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) services as part of our Early Intervention Clinic for children to achieve milestones and make progress toward goals identified by our collaborative care team.

ABA therapy has been one of the most commonly used approaches for Autism and other developmental disabilities since the 1960s. It is highly individualized and may look completely different for every person and practitioner – but the theory underlying the therapy is the same. The results have been profound, and there is no question that it has changed lives.

Early intervention – linked with ABA therapy – is crucial with Autism. Today, the average age of first intervention is 4.7 years. That is tremendous progress, but at BHA, we’re intervening earlier. We offer early intervention ABA services for children between 18 months and 7 years of age who have been diagnosed with Autism.

Early Intervention can have transformative effects on a child’s development.

Consider these facts

  • Children who receive early intervention can demonstrate improved outcomes, increased success, and independence in the long run.
  • Early intervention can have a positive impact on a child’s communication skills and academic success for years into the future.
  • Early intervention can alleviate financial burdens over the lifespan by reducing the need for continuing intensive therapy.

How Do We Know Early Intervention Works?

When children who are completely nonverbal begin intervention in the early preschool years, they are far more likely to become verbal than children who begin intervention over the age of 5.

Fewer than 10 percent of nonverbal children remain nonverbal when following an early intervention program.
