Melissa is a native to and loves Kansas City, she even took her first job as an usher for the Kansas City Royals. Growing up with a father in law enforcement and a mother in healthcare she always felt a desire to follow in either of their footsteps with helping people. After graduating from Avila University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology with an emphasis in human behavior, she started nursing school and worked as a Nursing Assistant in a Neuro Surgical ICU. While caring for individuals is something that she has always enjoyed her heart led her away from nursing care towards education and being an advocate for children. Melissa obtained her substitute teaching certificate and started substitute teaching in a local school district. Also working two additional years as an instructional assistant with middle school students in an intervention program called SWAS that helped students struggling with behavioral disorders. Melissa started work as an RBT in August and enjoys working with and getting to know all of the children. In her spare time she loves hanging out with her 17 year old son, Alex and also enjoys painting, sewing and antiquing.
